Im not a Fool But I Believe in God

It was just my luck to surf into the blog of Cenk Uygur entitled

If you’re a Christian, Muslim or Jew You are Wrong

His rant was that if you believe in God you’re a sucker

I suppose he would have me believe that that for no damn reason some lifeless ooze decided one day to crawl up onto the land and proceed to build nuclear bombs in order to eliminate the competing life forms. What did the first life form eat? Was it able to live on its self until it evolved into separate entities? And then there is instinct this is not something the Christian right made up.

Main Entry: 1in·stinct
Pronunciation: 'in-"sti[ng](k)t
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English, from Latin instinctus impulse, from instinguere to incite; akin to Latin instigare to instigate
1 : a natural or inherent aptitude, impulse, or capacity <had an instinct for the right word>
2 a : a largely inheritable and unalterable tendency of an organism to make a complex and specific response to environmental stimuli without involving reason b : behavior that is mediated by reactions below the conscious level
- in·stinc·tu·al / in-'sti[ng](k)-ch&-w&l, -ch&l, -shw&l / adjective

How does it work where did it come from

Instinct is where life forms just know how to do something without ever being taught or otherwise experiencing the act they perform. For example mother wasp don’t teach their babies how to build there cute little paper nest or their mud nest. Though evolutionary instinct The female praying mantis once she is impregnated will bite the head of her mate off and he has not evolved the instinct to get his and get the hell out of dodge ( just a minute baby I got move my car to the other side of the street).

And then there is sex its self one day some creature found this thing in its pants. Not having anything else to do with it he set out to find some place to put it. It just so happened that an other creature found a fissure in its body and agreed to allow the (lets call it the male) creature to put this thing it had found into the cavity. Then for no apparent reason something ejected itself out of this phallus. And began to explore the internal organs of the (lets call this one the female) creature. But wouldn’t you know it inside the female’s body was some stuff and like salmon swimming up stream the material that had abandoned the male’s body became determined to party with the stuff in the female’s body. Soon after that the male was sunning himself on a rock with some female friends and the first female came to him and told him he was going to be a father.

To be continued

I said all that to lay the foundation for this I am a gun totting God fearing Liberal.

I’ve have been a Democrat all my voting life I have been a democrat all of Cenk”s life I take exception to any idiot who calls me a fool because of the lunacy perpetuated by those who merely claim to believe some of the same things I do. Just as I would if you hated me because some other black stole your girlfriend. We democrats are getting our asses handed to us because some outspoken pseudo intellectuals are dividing the base.

Yes it’s amazing the kind of things people have done and will do in the name of religion but in most of the cases they are breaking the tenets of said religion

And I don’t care how you cut it everyone believes in something. Almost every atheist I know has ether crystals or pyramids or dream catchers or maybe they’ve got a little Feng Shui going on. And even science has become a religion every day scientist are asking us to believe in things we cant see or touch but based on some calculations, some revolutionary object billions of miles away proves God does not exist. The republicans have people who wouldn’t give each other the time of day united in a cause so let’s call a truce so that we can save the planet from the evil Neo-cons.

A lot of the people on Mr.CentkUygur’s blog seem to like the title of progressive so why don’t you call people like me liberals so you don’t feel contaminated by us. And let’s get back into the real battle. Remember the enemy of my enemy is my friend

i agree with you that everybody believes in something, but i think the problem here is that most people mistake spirituality with religion. The first is about belief. the second is about a bunch of fat egotistic pedophiles making things up as they go along (see nicea for a good example), in order to steal money, life and limb from shitscared peasants in the name of god. Read any of the holy books. they´ve got about the same credibility as mike tyson´s defense lawyer

I may have been a bit over-enthusiastic on my last comment but what i meant was that belief is to religion as the hamburger is to Macdonald´s. It is obvious that the burger exists, and it is a good thing, but Macdonald´s is a life-sucking bitch with the ethical value of a cardboard condom. Wrap that up in religious mumbo-jumbo and you get my point.
